Georgia Access Will Replace Healthcare.gov, Improving Access to Quality, Affordable Health Coverage for Georgians
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) confirmed approval for Georgia to transition to a State-based Exchange (SBE), otherwise known as Georgia Access. Georgia Access will go live as the official health insurance marketplace on November 1, 2024, as Open Enrollment 2025 commences.
What types of agents can sell on Georgia Access?
Accident & Sickness licensed agents who plan to sell on-Exchange health or dental insurance plans or Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) plans beginning Open Enrollment (OE) 2025 can sell on Georgia Access. Georgia Access is not relevant to agents who sell other types of insurance, including those who sell Life & Annuity Insurance, Property & Casualty Insurance, and/or Medicare.
Georgia Agents will not be selling the federal ACA a/k/a “Obamacare” starting on November 1st.
Instead, they will sell on the State-based Exchange (SBE), otherwise known as “Georgia Access”.
All you need to do is get an Accident & Sickness Insurance License and complete the online 3-hour training at www.GeorgiaAccess.gov by October 15th.
Those are the only insurance agents who can earn a commission on the sales.
