Dr. Phil Klotzbach with Colorado State University updated his forecast today for the rest of the season. Including the activity that has already formed, he expects a total of 24 named storms, 12 of those becoming hurricanes and 5 of those becoming major hurricanes (category 3 or higher). If 24 names storms form, it would be the second busiest in 169 years of records. Only 2005 with 28 names storms had more.
